Laura Ferrara was born and raised in Baltimore County. When her parents traded her childhood home for a farm in northern Baltimore County, Laura headed back to the place she knew well and resided in the White Marsh area before making her final move to Harford County in 2010. Final, because she fell in love with Harford County and has no intention of leaving the area. She now resides there in Bel air with her daughter Ella, son Isaac and one crazy lab!
Laura received her Bachelor’s in communication from Towson University and went on to travel the ranks at a nationwide advertising agency in downtown Baltimore for seven years. She loved working in the city, enjoying new restaurants for happy hours, and nights out with friends, but always enjoyed her return to the suburbs—never wanting to be fully engrossed in city life. She enjoys the quiet of the counties with the NCR trail, quiet walks with the dogs, splashing in the Gunpowder with the kids, and reading on the back deck too much to give it up.Â
Ultimately the city atmosphere became too much and so did the unforgiving hours of a corporate position. At the age of 30, Laura headed back to school for a change of career. Never too late to find your happiness! She took on part-time office work and quickly completed a two-year program to get her teaching certificate from Towson University. You can do anything if you’re willing to work hard! Laura is constantly seeking new things to learn, be it new healthy recipes or text books, so school has always been a passion of hers. Laura became certified to teach secondary education English in 2013; the same year she gave birth to her first daughter and lost the matriarch of her family, her grandmother. With that professional life change, came even more change—a change of heart.Â
Family has always been the the most important thing in Laura’s life. After the birth of her daughter, she knew she’d sacrifice all she could to spend as much of those first formative years with her as she could. So she did. She kept working casually at her office job and spent the rest of her time with her family.Â
The rest of the time she spends going on adventures every day. She finds pleasure in all the small things. From finding treasures on a walk she’s done a hundred times over to traveling to surrounding counties to visit a park or museum she’s read about. She’s constantly on the hunt for fun, new things to do. Laura loves being active with her kids and it’s important to her to get them moving. During the day. In the evenings you can find her curled up with a book or trying out a new recipe in the kitchen.Â
Laura has been lucky enough to join the Compass Home Group family in 2018 and go on another adventure; the adventure of learning the field of real estate while using her skills in communication and advertising to assist in marketing ventures, client appreciation, and event planning.
